The Power of a Personalized Diet and Medical Cannabis for Cancer Patients

Diet Advice For People With Cancer

Cancer is a life-altering condition that can impact not just one's physical health but also their mental and emotional wellbeing. Cancer treatment often includes chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, which can result in physical and nutritional changes in patients. Proper nutrition is crucial for cancer patients to maintain their strength, support their immune system, and manage side effects. Along with dietary changes, some cancer patients have turned to medical cannabis to help relieve symptoms and manage side effects of treatment.

Dietary Advice for Cancer Patients

  • Maintain a healthy weight: It's essential to maintain a healthy weight during cancer treatment as it helps the body recover from surgery, fight the cancer, and withstand treatments. Cancer patients may need to gain weight, lose weight, or maintain weight, depending on their treatment. A registered dietitian can help determine the best diet plan for each individual patient.
  • Eat a balanced diet: A balanced diet that includes a variety of foods is crucial for cancer patients. It's essential to include plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein sources, and healthy fats in their diet. Patients should also limit their intake of processed foods, sugar, and red meat.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking enough water and staying hydrated is crucial for cancer patients. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, nausea, constipation, and other side effects. It's essential to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and add additional fluids if necessary.
  • Avoid skipping meals: Cancer patients often experience changes in appetite, and it can be tempting to skip meals. However, it's crucial to eat regularly, even if it's just small, frequent meals, to maintain strength and energy levels.
  • Incorporate superfoods: Certain superfoods, such as turmeric, ginger, and garlic, are believed to have cancer-fighting properties. Incorporating these superfoods into the diet can provide additional health benefits for cancer patients.

Medical Cannabis for Cancer Patients

  • Alleviates Symptoms: Medical cannabis has been shown to alleviate symptoms such as pain, nausea, vomiting, and appetite loss in cancer patients. It can also help manage side effects of cancer treatment such as fatigue, depression, and anxiety.
  • Increases Appetite: Medical cannabis is known to increase appetite in patients. This can be especially beneficial for cancer patients who may have lost their appetite due to treatment or other symptoms.
  • Improves Sleep Quality: Medical cannabis has been shown to improve sleep quality in cancer patients. This can help patients get the rest they need to recover and manage symptoms.

Conclusion

Cancer patients can benefit from both a balanced diet and medical cannabis. It's essential to work with a registered dietitian and healthcare provider to determine the best diet plan and use of medical cannabis to meet individual needs and goals. With the right combination of nutrition and medical cannabis, cancer patients can maintain their strength, manage side effects, and support their overall health and wellbeing.

My mother is turning 80 next month - she has just received diagnosis of return of breast cancer after 15 year remission that has gone to her bones. She is also post polio sufferer. Would Cannabis Oil be useful to her? She is too fragile to undergo another round of radiation therapy let alone chemo.

I too am a Breast Cancer now Metastasized to my bone and I'm 39yrs old, married with 7 children. I have never had Chemo but have had my right Breast removed and two lots of somewhat regrettable radiation. Would you consider this line of defence? It seems to be my last.

CBD, with the proper balance of THC, will kill many cancers. I teach everything from sprouting to juicing to cultures as jun, kombucha,KEFIR,dehydration and Anaerobic Fermentation. You practice those daily and you will beat your cancer but it takes a full on, no holds barred DETERMINATION with an action plan to kill off the invaders. The CAUSE IS THE CURE.

I suffer from crohns disease, I have never had surgery as yet. I have been told if the treatment I currently undergoing is not successful I will have no choice but undergo surgery and be left with a collenastphy bag. I am 39 with 2 children on my own. Surgery is the last thing I want, its in fact one of my biggest fears. Could this oil prevent future surgery from happening ? My other question is someone I know has been told he has throat cancer and his been told by a doctor he has 2 year's he is not even 31 he has young children a business owner any his partner is fearing the worst for the man she loves. Is it legal for him in south Australia to obtain this oil for his medical purpose only and have hope to live a lot longer than what the doctor has told him?

Hi Kylie, I have had lymph nodes growing for last 3 years up to 30x11mm now, from jelly like to now a hard lump, and I even had a lump growing at the back of my throat noticeable when I swallow. My thyroid is also getting lumpy around the base and sides of neck. My doc says I need a thyroid specialist to confirm diagnosis. I have been freaking out for the last year of possible cancer and have been reading up on natural treatments from Gerson, rick Simpson oil, burzynski, alkaline diets, ketonic diets etc. For the last 5 weeks since November 20, 2015, I have gone on a sugar free, caffeine free, no carbs diet, eating only salads, vegetables, detox juices everyday, drinking psyllium husks, Eno (bicarbonate ) drinks, and low protein diet. To date, I have lost 2kg, my thyroid appears smaller, and my lymph nodes have reduced in size and have gone back to jelly like feel. Even the lump at the back of my throat has disappeared. I will still need to have check up and biospy for lymph and checks on thyroid, but I will keep up diet regime. Suggest your friend give their diet an overhaul as they have some time to do this. All the best.

Hi, recently a mass was discovered on my mothers lung during a short stay at hospital for a burst appendix, which from first analysis was the size of a 50 cent piece to a golf ball not cancerous to a 8cm size in 3 days (doctors muck up) also 3 liaisons on her brain, she has been given certain time which I am not aware of as I refuse to listen as I have not much faith in the health system or the system as a whole, and firmly believe in the body's healing abilities and all natural or herbal remedies. Please could u send me some information on the best treatment or any you think would be beneficial to my mother. Thank-you

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer last Feb, had hysterectomy in Aug 2015, pathology results all clear, I opted out of chemo and radiation, found out in Dec that i have a tumour on suture line from where they took uterus. Still opted out of radiation. I am having a lot of bleeding still, I am trying a lot of natural things, but I feel I need to try cannabis oil. Do you think this would work, and also could i get it delivered to Qld?

My mother has just been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer of the liver and pancreas. She is suffering with a lot of pain and I don't think there is much time for her. Will the oil help and how do I go about getting it for her?

Hi there, I admire the writer for above content, beautiful job, great point and advice, I am a food scientist, medical nutritionist and medical practitionist and I feel so frustrated when I see people have know idea about what is good or truly bad for them, I blamed the food manufactures who are taking advantage of people trust. I feel frustrated knowing the pharmaceutical companies only work towards their own favour rather than patients, the fact they don't give a damn to people....
